Tuesday, October 20, 2015 @ 5:00PM - Community Meeting 2: Essential elements of modern, high quality schools- This meeting is facilitated by City Schools. The purpose of this meeting is to connect the building design with academics, specifically the site specific Ed Specs and the expansion of engagement through the community use of space planning process. This is a repeat of the meeting we held at the school just before summer break.

Real Food Farms Updated- New Day & Time starting October 7, 2015

Has agreed to test us as a Market Stop. They will be here Wednesday from 11:45 to 12:30 pm at the Ellerslie Apartments (Wyanoke and Old York Road).

Real Food Farm grows healthy, pesticide-free food on 6 acres of land in Clifton Park using environmentally sustainable methods. We improve food access in Northeast Baltimore by using a Mobile Market to sell fresh fruit and vegetables and offering a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Real Food Farm also provides field trips, summer programs, and internships for students and farming training opportunities for adults. Since 2009, Real Food Farm has grown over 60,000 lbs of food and educated over 3,000 people.

Public Forum on 21st Century School Buildings

There will be a Public Forum on the 21st Century School Buildings Program on September 10, 6pm-8:30pm at the Baltimore Design School.  The forum will feature presentations from city and state officials and allow the public to ask questions and join in discussions about various aspects of the program in smaller breakout sessions.    

 

This is the first public forum on the program since the the $1 billion school construction bill passed in Annapolis in 2013.  Year 1 schools are deep into the design phase and construction on the first schools will begin early next year.  Year 2 schools are just getting started.

 

In addition to getting updates on the school building projects, there's going to be a presentation on LOCAL HIRING and student apprenticeship opportunities - which we all know is desperately needed.  To ensure that this program brings the best education to city students and job opportunities to those in need, please come out and make your voice heard!
